I use a VEGA Deluxe and a Sony multi-sync monitor along with Ultravision (a
$79 hardware/software package) to give me VGA-level text characters, my
choice of about 2 dozen different screen fonts, 4 row sizes, and 4 column
sizes, all of which are quite readable, mainly because of Ultravision.
