I have heard that some utilities, such as some versions of Norton's Adv Util 
are incompatable with programs that partition your HD's, such as Disk Manager.
That could be a reason fro your losing your FAT table.  Also, I found that 
Microsoft SmrtDrv (SamrtDrive [sp]) killed one of my FAT tables.  I sed Disk M
ager to partition my disk.  Check into that.
