Will a Mac support CTS/RTS? Message-ID: <1363@bucket.UUCP> Date: 22 Apr 89 01:09:26 GMT Organization: Rick's Home-Grown UNIX; Portland, OR. Lines: 27 I just got a Microcom QX modem. Everything works fine until I use Xmodem, Kermit or do a Binary transfer. In these modes Xon/Xoff cannot be used be cause if there happens to be the binary code for a control-S or control-Q the transfer gets screwed up. So, I turned off Xon/Xoff in the modem. Now I have two choices no handshake....and let the mac or the modem overflow. Or I can use hardware handshake (CTS/RTS)..... It looks like I should use the hardware handshake. BUT....the Mac does not support the RTS/CTS handshake leads. The Mac only supports DTR/DTS. Now I need the experts on the net. How do I use my Microcom modem in the reliable mode with the Mac? How do I get the Mac to emulate the RTS/CTS leads? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Marty Lee teksce (Fastest path) / \ tektronix!reed! omen !bucket!martyl (Marty Lee) \ / percival
