It seems to be somewhat faster than Word 3 in galley (non page view mode, which is my preferred mode. I generally do my editing/formatting in separate passes). I run on a 512Ke upgraded to 2Meg with a Dove upgrade at home, and even with that slow processor I never noticed Word falling behind me, even though I type 80-120WPM. On my Mac IIx at work, there's obviously no performance problem at all. While I have brought up Word 4 on a standard 512ke, I didn't play with it enough to see what performance problems the reduced memory might cause. If you're working from floppies and not a hard disk, that'll really slow things down, but I'm not sure I'd blame Word for that.
