Message-ID: <12399@ut-emx.UUCP> Date: 24 Apr 89 20:37:50 GMT Organization: The University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas Lines: 14 Are there any plans for NeXT to offer a second optical drive? Such a drive would be significantly cheaper than having buy the 330mb hard drive to have enough storage. I remember BYTE estimating the cost of a second optifloppy (grin) at something like $1000. So, does the optical controller circuitry have the capacity to control a second drive? If not, would the addition of a second optical drive still be possible, perhaps through an expansion card? Would such a move be silly, considering the speed of the optical? We can only hope that the reported 0.9 speed increases are true. -John Osborn UTexas Computation Center User Services
