I have alot of experience in the MS-DOS world, where there are many such products, far better than tip. How about Kermit? You can even compile the same sources to give you a DOS Kermit or a UNIX Kermit, depending upon whether you compile them on those DOS-ish sorts of days, or when you're feeling more like UNIX.
