not only is the chess binary missing in the 4.0 distribution, but running
the 3.? chess binary and/or the latest gnuchess binary underneath
chesstool doesn't work either.  chesstool just locks up.  does the
gnuchess patch file on titan.rice.edu have anything to do with this?
