We have a Sun 3/260 as our server with two diskless and two diskfull 3/50's as nodes, plus a PC/AT running PC/NFS 3.0. All the workstations are running Sun OS 3.5. The problem is this: Every once in awhile when logging on to the 3/260 (w/ hi-res mono), it is impossible to bring up a command tool or a shelltool. Text- edit windows, mailtool, perfmeters, etc. all come up ok, but no shells of any kind. We are using 'contool' but no messages ever appear. A 'ps' didn't show anything unusual (to me). I killed the console and then tried bringing up a shelltool, but STILL no messages. Our only re- course has been a reboot. Any ideas?
