Has anyone ever tried to rewrite plain.tex to something like troff.tex?
It seems that it would be as easy to hack troff out of very raw TeX
as hacking troff out of a program and macro package.  It would be nice
to just be able to `tex &troff filename.1' to get nice formatted output.

Just an idea.
