I am looking for a good but reasonably priced Optical Character Reader for either one of the existing 300 DPI scanners, or an entire system (preferably the former). I have seen TextScan and am not impressed with its ability to handle text which is slightly rotated. I have heard good things about ReadIt!, but have not seen it. Recently there have been advertisements regarding TextPert which has, supposedly, been around for a long time in Europe. I would appreciate any and all suggestions for a text scanner and/or software. TextPert is about $900 but I could spring for that if it was really as good as they claim. Please respond by mail, if possible. I'll post a summary if my search of the archives of comp.text does not reveal that one already exists. Sean McLinden Decision Systems Laboratory University of Pittsburgh
