I have seen oblique references to a TMPDIR environment variable, which
seems to govern location of temporary files (created by vi, ex, cc, etc.),
but have not been able to find any documentation on it.  (I'm using
System V.2.)  Any reference to documentation on this and/or an explanation
would be appreciated.  Thanks.
