We've been building all of our X libraries as SunOS shared libraries
since 4.0 came out (R2 and R3).  A few minor changes to an imake template
or 2 and you're set.  The "standard" set of x clients takes up almost
2 meg with shared and a tad more than 7 meg statically linked.
