The primary requirement is to recognize the subliminal programming and understand the politics of experience -- then you have a choice instead of being forced into an action by your own psychology. It also helps if you don't give a damn about anybody else's opinion of you. Of course, that makes you very dangerous -- particularly if you own a press and thus have freedom of the press.
