I am using the Emacs from the unsupported tape supplied with the DECstation, which contains version 18.51 of gnu emacs. My problem is during incremental searches, only every third letter is being read. The first is ignored, the second one beeps and the third is accepted. This then repeats. I thought it had something to do with Ctrl-S so I configured the xterm window so as not to use C-s, C-q. No change. I then tried remapping incremental search to C-`, still no change. In this last version C-s doesn't enter into the problem. Any ideas? Brian Utterback
