I'm sure there is a source for X in England but I'm not sure what it is. You probably want to sign up for comp.windows.x to get too much info on X. PEX is PHIGS Extension to X. The versions are The X Window System Version 11 Release 3 ( X11R3 or XV11R3 ) PEX Protocol Specification Version 3.20 Tons of documentation is on the R3 tape under doc/extensions/pex. There will be a new version of the PEX Protocol in the next month or so (3.30). There are many books on X out now. The easiest to pick up and use is Oliver Jones, "Introduction to the X Window System" from Prentice Hall. If you cannot use ftp you can get a tape with X11R3 contact the MIT software distribution center X hotline (617) 258-8330.
