Well, not sure, but I think the toner used in LaserWriter cartridges is *already* magnetic! I dismantled a toner cartridge once, and found it contained a magnetic roller which the toner particles clung to. As the roller was rotated, the toner sort of crept around it in response to the changing flux direction. This led to the bizarre thought that one might be able to magnetically record on a piece of paper with a black blob LaserWritten onto it! I don't know if the magnetic properties would survive the heat rollers, or whether there would even be enough magnetic material present to be noticeable. Maybe I'll try an experiment one day... Has anyone else noticed/thought about this, and could shed any light?
