TOPS does not take advantage of the available speed of an Ethernet. Heck, it doesn't even take advantage of all of the available speed of an AppleTalk. Most of this is probably a design "feature" that allows the server to run in the background while still leave the Mac acting as the server able to do other things at the same time. Ethernet won't give you much if what you're using it for is TOPS. It will gain you a whole lot if you're using AppleShare, TCP/IP, or most other software. -- Amanda Walker
