The direction of transfer is from the VAX to the Apollo, and we have replicated the problem when initiating ftp from both sides. The file on the VAX is a sequential carriage return/carriage control ascii text file of size 1498/1500 blocks (VAX terminology for you non-VMS'ites :-) BUT when I transfer the bloody thing it comes up with a different byte count each time. (whole segments of the file go missing). ??? what is happening ???? I thought that TCP-IP/FTP should NOT allow this behaviour to occur. ian -- Ian Hoyle /\/\ Computer Systems Superintendent / / /\ BHP Melbourne Research Laboratories / / / \ 245 Wellington Rd, Mulgrave, 3170 / / / /\ \ AUSTRALIA \ \/ / / / \ / / / Phone : +61-3-560-7066 \/\/\/ ACSnet : ianh@merlin.bhpmrl.oz.au Internet: ianh%merlin.bhpmrl.oz.au@uunet.uu.net
