Gregg Stefancik) Organization: Clemson University Engineering Department Lines: 12 I recently compiled the MIT PC-IP package from harvard.edu. Unfortunately the performance thus far is less than desirable. For some odd reason the ping server seems to drop packets the first few packets. The packets it decides to return come back with an 8000 ms. delay. Telnet also breaks when talking to a SUN 4/110 running SUN OS 4.0. Soon after login the connection goes into slow mode and character echo seems to take forever. Turning on the TCP debugging flag shows that the machine is retransmitting each packet several times. It then receives an ACK for each packet sent after doing about 8 seconds of nothing. Has anyone else had these problems? I compiled PC-IP under MSC 5.1. W. Gregg Stefancik < wstef@eng.clemson.edu >
