The names are just a way of referring to the chips, but it is the first Letter of each name that actually dictated why a particular leading-letter name was chosen: A = ADDRESS (Agnus) - where most of the DMA logic and blitter are. D = DATA (Daphne) - has the color registers and a few other items. P = PERIPHERALS (Portia) - includes the disk controller and audio. G = GLUE-logic (Gary) - recently added to simplify the design Sorry, nobody ever told me where BUSTER ever came from, but then he didn't hang around for very long anyway.
