Because of a bad block, I had to reconstruct my GS/OS system disk. Now, whenever a program, even the finder, needs another disk, all it can do is poll the disk drives twice, and then hand, polling them foir a split second every 10 seconds thereafter. Nothing will recover from this. Some programs are intelligent enough to put up a dialog box and ask for the right thing, but both Finder and GSWorks fail. in the finder, if I manually eject a disk, and then trash the icon, it will look for the disk, not find it, and start pouting hanging the system. In appleworks GS, if I try to spell check a document, the GSWorks disk will spin for a time, then it will look for the utilities disk which I have in my hand. But again, it polls the drives in earnest only twice, then gives up. I had this problem before when I first got my system, and I proceeded to flame GS/OS for inexcusable negligence. Now its here again. What's the deal? Help! jeremy mereness ============= jm7e+@andrew.cmu.edu (Arpanet) r746jm7e@CMCCVB (vax.... Bitnet)
