The physical system has 4MB memory, 2 68MB hard disks, Bell ACE 8 port serial board (int 11), 60 MB streaming tape (int 8), VDC 750 video board and a 319 monitor. Finally, I also just installed the bus mouse (int 5). Now, having said all that...while Xwindows (with Open Look) installed flawlessly so far as I can tell, it doesn't work very well. To wit: it starts out fine, giving me the login window...but at some indeterminate point after that, it literally goes nuts! WIndows begin to appear one after another, menus come and go and I lose all ability to control ANYTHING! I end up logging onto a terminal, becoming root and killing everything in sight. My console terminal, however, is left in shambles and I have to telinit 6 from the remote terminal to set things right. If anyone can help me, I'll be MOST appreciative. I don't know if it's my inexperience with Xwindows, or some more subtle flaw. I'm running the latest version of ksh if that matters. Thanks for any help and/or light!
