They sent a patch to /lib/cpp which allows 20% more #defines. This seems to do the trick so far. Suggestions ranged from writing my own preprocessor to cutting down on #defines to porting the GNU cpp. The latter seemed most reasonable for our application, so I tried it. Sure enough, the cpp choked with too many #defines while I was trying to port. I could have commented out a few, but at about that time the /lib/cpp patch came through. Thanks for all the feedback.
