It's impossible to run CAD programs, some compilers, and lots of other programs that need that much memory or more. If you just run small things, then it would be great. They are supposedly working on utilizing EMS memory on XT's for system memory, and I am not sure as to whether there is a way to get the exteneded memory on a 286 or 386 for system memory, my manuals says that it's used as swap space automatically. (on an XT, you have to create a RAMdisk of your own if you want to use the EMS memory as swap space). It could be a revolu- tionary product if they can get their memory management together. I would suggest DoubleDOS on an XT, and something like DESQView on an AT with lots of memory. DoubleDOS is like Wendin-DOS in that it can only give an application something like 450K max, while the other (it only allows for two applications at one time) has the rest of memory. I use this when I'm in my ternminal program and downloading. It doesn't affect transfer performance. have fun!
