Wade Blomgren has thoughtfully informed me that this isn't quite true. MacTrek IS NOT incompatible with TMON. The problem seems to be related to the implementation of sound on the Mac Plus and SE under system software versions 6.0 and later. This system software attempted to "retrofit" the Plus and SE to approximate the sound capabilities of the Mac II, and there are some bugs in the implementation. I have created a version of MacTrek that does not cause this problem, and will send it to anyone who requests it to correct this problem. If you have played MacTrek successfully, you do not need this upgrade, as there are no other significant changes in it. (Note that if you have played MacTrek but never gotten a wrong answer, you should intentionally get a wrong answer before deciding whether you need this or not!) If you can process StuffIted, BinHexed files sent via e-mail, I will be happy to send you a copy that way. If you can't, please mail me a BLANK diskette and a self-addressed stamped envelope (45 cents postage within the US... if you're outside the US please enclose the equivalent of $1 in your local currency, or a US dollar bill), and be sure you enclose a note telling me what you want! Thanks to all users who have sent bug reports! If you've sent something and I haven't responded, I didn't get it! If you haven't seen MacTrek yet, it is available from the Info-Mac archives, and may still be in your site's comp.binaries.mac newsgroup. Those of you who DO have the game already, don't forget to fill out and return your STARNET Registration forms! STARNET is growing steadily and doing quite well. -- Mark H.
