The answer that I was looking for was sent by someone who I can't give credit to because I accidentally trashed their message. Here it is: Hold down Command-option-shift-delete when booting and (at least in my case) the hard drive is never recognized. I have a 140MB Rodime Internal. Have a nice day!!!
