With limited memory, the Mac composes pages using horizontal "bands", and has to redraw the picture several times, once for each band. Your 2 second burst might be the band draw time, and 5 seconds might be the time to redraw the next band in memory. In that case, with more memory you might never see the 5 second pause. If you have more than 1Mb, then this probably isn't the reason for the slowness. (2) Has anyone used this printer with a Mac II? Does it go faster? Did the Mac II have more than 1Mb of memory? (3) I heard it costs nearly 10c a page to print, when you figure in paper costs, and the expensive ink cartridges. Is this still true with the Deskjet+?
