Let's say, for the purposes of this query, that it is politically infeasible to get the local sun specifically added to the name server list at the client site. If I am running a server on the console of oberon.usc.edu then using "setenv DISPLAY oberon.usc.edu:0.0" has no problem running clients on overlord.jcs.mil ... However, if we run a server on sal3.usc.edu ... then neither "setenv DISPLAY sal3.usc.edu:0.0" ... or "setenv DISPLAY sal3.usc.edu@oberon.usc.edu:0.0" will permit clients on overlord.jcs.mil to display anything on the server. The error returned is: "X Toolkit Error: Can't Open display" ... so, what is the correct form of a DISPLAY name to connect overlord to sal3 ???
