I think it is very interesting to see these unofficial representatives of the various vendors slugging it out. The only one who writes what look exactly like advertisements is Robert Cousins of Data General. The Sun and MIPS folks have been remarkably restrained, in my estimation. I don't know what fraction of the comp.arch reader base I represent, but I read this newsgroup as an interested layman and low-volume customer. I think that I learn more about the merits of the various products by a somewhat heated debate than by an entirely sanitized one. -- John D.
