Lines: 13 Someone has asked about the results of my survey of free text databases, and I am unable to get through to him via email. So far, I've had one recommendation for AskSam and I've received a quite impressive description of a system Earl Kinmonth developed at Berkley. However, I will probably be staying with the BRS/SEARCH system for our immediate need, as it is quite powerful and we have already paid the susbstantial licensing fee. BRS requires the insertion of unique field headings in a pre-existing text file, but the fields can be configured with great flexibility (all numeric, date only, unlimited size, etc.) and it has a vast array of search operators.
