Keywords: uunet xenix compuserve Message-ID: <1322@sagepub.UUCP> Date: 19 May 89 00:44:58 GMT Distribution: usa Organization: Sage Publications, Inc., Newbury Park, CA Lines: 23 I just got a uunet account and have been having trouble logging in to uunet via Compuserve. It seems that compuserve wants logins at 7-bits, even parity. But it looks like my Xenix box is trying to log in at 8-bits, no parity. Is there a way in the Systems file (or anywhere else) to tell my system to use 7/even when it dials out? I asked uunet, and the response was "No idea, call compuserve." I called compuserve and they said "Unix? We never heard of that communications program. Do you have Procomm?" (Honest!) Also, it seems my system is forcing incoming callers to use no parity. Could someone give me a gettydefs line that works and doesn't force callers to use no parity? Thanks very much! -David -- David McCune, Sage Publications, Inc. 2111 West Hillcrest Drive, Newbury Park, CA 91320 dfm%sagepub@quad.com uucp: ...srhqla!sagepub!dfm voice: (805) 499-0721 fax: (805) 499-0871
