Could someone tell me if there is a way to save the value of an
environment variable (say SUBJLINE) upon entering a newsgroup
and restore the saved value to the environment variable when
exiting the newsgroup.

I know about using "& ..." and "X& ..." in the newsgroup's kill file,
but I am not sure what to put in place of the "..." above.
