Why would anyone want it? I should think that under some conditions it would be nice, but most of the time it would mean having to remember to change the name or protection status of any file that I _didn't) want changed. I'd also have to remember what's being changed every time I did anything that had a hot link to somewhere else. Unless the computer is going to warn me (and thus it wouldn't be "automatic") I wouldn't want the headache of working with a system like that. I use a computer to store things I want to remember in exact detail.
