Within that time frame we've had about a 25% defect rate. Most of the chips work for a few months then just *DROP DEAD*. I've spoken many times with Zip Tech (they've replaced the chips for fredd but that's not the point), any they keep telling me they haven't had many complaints. I've also talked with a dealer I know he's had similar problems to mine. Anyway here are my questions: 1) Has anyone had simialr problems? 2) I've heard about the "ROCKET CHIP" but have not had time to investigate them, any comments? 3) Are there any other Apple excelerators, that are 100% compatible? Some other notes: The Apples the chips are in run about 12 hours a day with about 30 minutes of down time within that period. Most of the chips won't boot when the computer is turned on, or some just hang while running. I have found one occurance where the Zip chip changed a program (I save the program then ran the good and bad thru Copy ][+ verify). The Apples are running DOS 3.3 (I'd prefer Franklin DOS 6.0 [runs about 6% faster thant Apple], but from early tests with the chip it causes disk i/o errors). One other questions not related to the chip; Other than Microsoft are there currently any other available Dos 3.3 basic Compilers (please don't tell me to convert to ProDos it is absolutely NOT possible!).
