Have you tried the original Apple accelerator, Applied Engineering's TransWarp?
I've had no problems with mine so far.  It's worked just fine with every piece
of software I've tried it with (whoops.  All but one: ModemWorks.  Supposedly,
the latest version fixes this problem...).  AppleWorks just cooks, Multiscribe
is actually useable, and most arcade games are simply unplayable!
