I forgot the following info about my Spectre setup: I am running a 1040STFM with a SupraDrive and TOS 1.0 (11/20/85 ROM). Spectre menus are : 832K RAM no cache parallel printer Boot HD Automount HD Atari logo-----> /|\ "Hard Disk" Detect disk insertion Sound-11 Alt video The program claims to be V1.9, although it is called 1SPEC19F.PRG. I am running Finder B1-6.1 and System B1-6.0.2 (I think the B is for Britain) currently. When I changed the RAM to 512K, Word ran a little better (weird!), and did page previews, and spell checking, and glossaries much more happily than with 832K. If these bugs disappear in 1.9F, then life will be fine. When I boot the ST, I leave a GEM floppy in the drive to speed the autoboot. I tend to leave this in whilst running Spectre, but sometimes swap it for a Spectre MFS disk with bootblocks but no System or Finder. This is my transverter disk. Starting Spectre gives the 'bong', and the floppy is read. Then the hard disk goes and boots into the Finder. _No_ floppy disk appears on the desktop (the hard disk does though)! If I eject the floppy by hand, all hell breaks loose (loads of Mac dialogs - insert the disk (I do), can't remember what else), but I remembered that I can press F1 to mount the disk. Everything is OK then. The Shift Undo problem - it seems to work if you press it really sharply. Any longer causes the black screen, as you say. The lack of a key click gives a few problems at this point. Cheers! Chris ______________________________________________________________________________ / SNAIL: Chris Ridd, Dept.
