Keywords: expanded memory, extended memory, Desqview Message-ID: <1974@blake.acs.washington.edu> Date: 10 May 89 17:02:20 GMT Organization: Univ of Washington, Seattle Lines: 28 Now that RAM prices are a bit more reasonable, I've upgraded two Zenith Z248 AT-compatibles to 3MB each. Now the fun begins: just how shall we put this memory to good use? We program using QuickBasic, Microsoft C and Fortran, Turbo Pascal and Prolog, and have other "stuff" around like WordPerfect 5.0, Quattro, comm packages and utilities. Besides obvious expanded memory uses like RAM disks and WordPerfect use, what other uses have some of you put your "extra" memory to? Any extended memory uses you care to share? I keep reading about the combination of Desqview and QEMM (sp?) as one way to put extra megabytes to work in a "multitasking" way under DOS. Any comments on how well it works (is it worth the $$)? Real life experiences would be greatly appreciated!! Of course, I can always wait until our agency recognizes the existence of Unix ...
