However, since it was - let me just point out that for LESS than the price
of their E9696 ($799) Usenet / BBS sites can get the USR Dual Standard
modem ($738 DELIVERED COD).  This modem is superior in features to the
E9696 on a point-by-point basis.  It not only supports true CCITT V.32,
but also supports HST 14.4kb (w/450b reverse channel) (that's the uncompressed
rate - MNP5 can increase it significantly).  It's shipping, I have one, it
works great.

For EVEN LESS, you can get a USR V.32 only (no HST), or even less still
just USR HST 1440.  They also have lower prices than these guys on the full
range of modems (including internal models, 2400 only, etc.).
