Subject: Unwritable stacks.  What do I do?

Hi out there.  I have a question concerning a locked stack.
I picked up from the net a stack called MacIntosh Technical Notes.  Later, I collected some articles that were updates or additions to these notes.  
I had in mind to insert these updates in the original stack but I can't seem to 
be able to write to the fields in that stack.  I tried the obvious things such as
unlocking the fields, the stack and so on but I still can't write to the stack.
Does any one know what's going on?
