I thought I heard it the other way around - that Adobe and anyone else that sells fonts would come up with a converter from their format to Apple's outline format so we could generate screen fonts. It would surely be a major disadvantage to choose a Postscript font if it meant reverting back to the old-style bitmap font for the screen.
