If anyone has a sympathetic sendmail wizard around, try to get them to look it over. I suspect that the supplied .cf file makes several simplifying assumptions about your configuration, but my persistent lack of experience in this makes me unwilling to point fingers anywhere. >I'm trying to use TechReport, but I can't find any documentation on how to >set up the mailing address. Yes, TechReport has no documentation, and has several other problems. In fact, the second bug report I submitted with it was about itself. I do like the icon, though. So far, several people have thought it was the spelling checker, and the rest just punted. > Doing a strings on it and looking for >something that looks like an address or an alias, I found >"nereportb@localhost". Is this how it's done, by setting up the >"nereportb" alias? "nereportb" is the bug and suggestion address, and "nereportq" is the question address. For various reasons, the best way to set these up is to point to the local support person, who can verify them and send them on to NeXT, using the addresses given out at support camp. This prevents random users from sending incomplete and incorrect bug reports at the drop of a hat. >I have set it up, and sent the report, but it came back: > Connected to localhost: > >>> HELO jacob.eecs.nwu.edu > <<< 553 jacob.eecs.nwu.edu host name configuration error > 554 nereportb@localhost... Service unavailable Your sendmail configuration doesn't work in your environment. I'm not even going to *try* to figure out where the error is. Sendmail hacking is an arcane art I don't have the time to learn right now. "The motto of the place is 'Knowledge in pursuit of excellence'. Not truth, not beauty, not art or science. Just excellence." -=- J Greely (jgreely@cis.ohio-state.edu; osu-cis!jgreely)
