This is pure conjecture on my part, but the DMP2100, DMP430, and DMP 440
all switch between IBM and Tandy mode if they receive the sequence ESC+!

If the printer drivers for the newer versions of Windows send this
sequence, your printer will toggle from the correct IBM mode to the rather
non-standard Tandy mode.

Just a thought.
