I have been using the Transcript software from Adobe to convert normal ascii files and troff CAT output to postscript. If you then use the AIX printer backend (piobe) with the '-plot' flag to disable all backend processing, postscript files are transfered directly to the printer, and prints just fine. You can also set up your own shell script as a printer backend, automatically detect postscript, troff of normal ascii files and do the appropriate translation to postscript before passing them on to the printer (through piobe). This is what I do, and it works fine. Rune Riisnaes SysScan A.S., Hovik, Norway. Email: uunet!mcvax!ndosl!syssosl!rr
