This is a known problem.  Ask your supplier for fix disk number xnx120.
My notes say:

xnx120     xenix                2.3.0/2.3.1       386AT               135tpi
This new /bin/ps file corrects a problem with "seek errors" exhibited by ps.
Seek errors will still occur and are a normal part of operation, but they
should occur infrequently (supercedes xnx109)
