Is there someway to disable auto-repeat within the context of an application?

I have certain accelerators bound to e.g, <KeyDown>Return, and others bound
to <KeyUp>Return for certain TextWidgets. If you hold down the return key
with autorepeat, you get scads of such events.

I'd like to disable auto-repeat, either at a fine level for the single widget
or over the entire application.

Any clues?
