Message-ID: <975@syma.sussex.ac.uk> Date: 11 May 89 16:31:03 GMT Organization: University of Sussex Lines: 23 I have found that when the MVJUNK script (distributed over the net a short time ago) creates a new newsgroup, the active file ends up with TWO entries for that group. For example the active file contains: mail.taac-users 00000 00000 y mail.taac-users 00001 00001 y I then have to delete the first of each of these entries by hand. Shome mishtake, shurely? Also, when a new newsgroup is created, mvjunk doesn't chown the newly-created directory/ies to "news" but leaves them owned by root, thus causing inews to complain when it next attempts to put an article there. I guess this depends on local setup. At my site, every file and directory in the news spool area is owned and grouped by "news". I have amended my copy of mvjunk to avoid this problem. Otherwise, mvjunk is quite a useful lil' ol' script. -- Andy Clews, Computing Service, Univ. of Sussex, Brighton BN1 9QN, ENGLAND JANET: andy@syma.sussex.ac.uk BITNET: andy%syma.sussex.ac.uk@uk.ac Voice: +44 273 606755 ext.2129
