My previous attempt to fix this situation never showed up here. In a previous posting regarding blackboard frameworks, I made a serious mistake. I erroneously stated that the GBB system from UMass and the BB1 system from Stanford were both public domain software. This is wrong! GBB is "freely available." However, it is not in the public domain. I do not know exactly whether BB1 is free or has some license fee; however, I am pretty sure it is NOT public domain either. Because things can become public domain just by letting the perception that they are persist, it is important to note this correction. If you want to know the precise status of these tools you should contact the appropriate people: For BB1, contact Barbara Hayes-Roth: bhayes-roth@sumex-aim.stanford.edu For GBB, contact Dan Corkill: cork%cs.umass.edu@relay.cs.net -- Larry Baum Advanced Technology Center Boeing Computer Services uucp: uw-beaver!bcsaic!lbaum (206) 865-3232 internet: lbaum@atc.boeing.com
