Another important point is that banks can certainly charge a greater
than usual processing charge to process one.

You may find that the complaint from your bank is that you didn't write
the checks on forms that contain your account information in magnetic
ink.  This increases the banks processing cost for the check.  I would
expect them to charge you for this hassle.
