Thanks for the quick answers to my earlier popd problem (*blush* --
it's a built-in shell command).  I'm still having a problem when
I invoke the real thing.  I find that popd terminates almost
immediately when I:
	% /etc/popd &
as root.  Is there a way I can find out what's going on?  This is
on a Sun3 running SunOS 4.0.  I had no trouble under SunOS3, and have
applied the SunOS4 patches that are floating around.
