(H. Shrikumar) Organization: SUNY/Buffalo Computer Science Lines: 42 Hi I am posting this for a friend of mine who does not have access to news. If you can help please reply by mail. I have set up the Reply-to field appropriately. Kamal... Help .... This is shri ( ...shri%shakti@uunet.uu.net ). I need some help with the sendmail configuartion file. I have been experimenting with the sendmail configuration file to learn more of its secrets, as we do not have much documentation on it. I ran into some problems, hence the following questions. Thanx for any help ... 1. Sendmail has a SYSERR message in it. What causes this to be issued ? I triggered this off with a uucp mail address rewrite rule that converted one address into one without the conventional ! sign. This was with a mailer called "uucpf", to distiguish it from the usual uucp mailer. How did sendmail trap this ? How does it know it is uucp mail ? How can I get over this problem ? 2. rmail seems to add the remote hostname to the beginning of the from address in the mail header. Where does it pick up this informaion from ? Some hosts on our network do not confirm to the RFC822 format. So some pre- processing is needed to convert the headers here. Thanx for all help Please mail replies to shri%shakti@uunet.uu.net. -- shri ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kamal M.
